Upon finishing a mouth-watering breakfast, we set off for Tarangire National Park. It took a 2-hour, 4x4 ride covering a distance of 130 km. The Park is widely known for its ancient baobab trees, massive elephant herds, and having a total area of 2,850 km². During our visit, we drove all day along the Tarangire River. While we passed the river, we were lucky enough to spot hundreds of elephants bathing and drinking water. Other animals like zebras, wildebeests, giraffes, and even lions and leopards were a common sight. We witnessed acacia leaves being stretched by giraffes, zebras and wildebeests grazing side by side, as well as various beautiful birds such as the lilac-breasted roller. Our tour guide was extremely informative. He would stop every now and then at different scenic spots to help us learn more about the park's ecosystem, all the while serving us delicious picnic lunch beneath the breathtaking Baobab with panoramic savanna views. Upon arrival, we checked into a luxurious tented camp with a private veranda and en-suite tents.
