Tour Overview
Join an amazing 9-day trek on the Marangu Route Mount Kilimanjaro, the only route with hut accommodations. It ends at Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest point at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet). It is called the “Coca-Cola Route” because of its popularity. It provides an easier and more organized climb through the diverse ecosystems of Tanzania, which include rainforests, heather moorlands, alpine deserts, and glacial areas. This trip is best for moderate hikers. It is very unique because it has an approximately 90-95% summit success rate due to the extra acclimatization days provided. The route offers the striking landscapes of Kilimanjaro, including the Kibo and Mawenzi Peaks, the Eastern Ice Fields, and the colorful flora of the giant groundsels, lobelias, and impatiens of Kilimanjaro. Trekking through the lower slopes of Kilimanjaro, trekkers may also encounter some wildlife like blue monkeys, colobus monkeys, and even some silvery-cheeked hornbills. This trek is also accompanied by eco-friendly policies, professional guides, armed rangers, and extra safety precautions, which transform the trek. This trek is perfect for those who want to mountaineer and partake in a safari at the Northern Circuit. It is best for those looking for a physical challenge, cultural experience, and indescribable nature.
The 9-day itinerary includes three specific days set aside for acclimatization, which greatly reduces the chances of encountering acute mountain sickness (AMS) when compared to shorter Marangu variations. Daily 3-to-8-hour treks to comfortable dormitory huts along this route climb well-trodden pathways. The popularity of the Marangu Route guarantees good lodges and facilities along the route. The southern approach offers peaceful Kilimanjaro wilderness moments, which are hard to find. The route emphasizes minimal-impact tourism and offers Tanzania extensions post trek, which include rich biodiversity and culture with wildlife safaris, Maasai and Chagga village walks, or beaches of Zanzibar. Perfect for adventure travelers, the Marangu Route offers high-altitude trekking and immersion into Tanzania's amazing nature and cultural heritage, providing a captivating and timeless adventure.
