Itinerary

Start your day tour of the Materuni Waterfall by getting picked up at your hotel in Moshi or Kilimanjaro International Airport at 07:30 AM, provided in a comfortable private vehicle tailored for couples, which will take about an hour to reach Materuni Village. You will be welcomed with complimentary refreshments. Afterward, relish a scenic drive lasting 15 km and with an elevation gain of 1500 meters. You'll reach your destination and meet your guide at 08:30 AM, so you may have some time to chat with him about the romantic plans you have set for the day! Upon meeting your guide, he will let you know the plan for the day, which will include a waterfall hike, a Chagaa coffee farm visit, and some cultural interaction. First, you will be taken on a 2-3 hour long hike to Materuni Waterfall. This particular hike is 4 km long with a round trip of 4 km, taking you through scenic tropical forests with banana trees, coffee plants, and colorful birds like turacos. In addition to this, you will also get a chance to see the 150-meter waterfall that stands tall and is fed by the glacial streams of Kilimanjaro. The waterfall makes for stunning views and even more stunning pictures. Tourists are welcome to swim in the refreshing pool, which is fed by the waterfall. Your guide will later tell you about the area's ecology and some superb stories from Chaga's history.

At 11:30 AM, return to the village for the private tour of the Chaga coffee farm, which lasts from 11:30 AM until 1:30 PM; this includes a coffee-making experience that encompasses harvesting cherries, roasting, brewing, and tasting coffee while learning about the region's agricultural heritage. Around 1:30 PM, appreciate the traditional Chaga lunch in the picturesque village—a relaxing lunchtime for honeymooners with stews of bananas, ugali, grilled vegetables, roasted community-reared, fresh meat, and other Chaga specials. Starting from 2:30 PM until 3:30 PM, after lunch, take part in the engaging private interaction with Chaga culture where local youth perform folkloric dances and tell stories, and engage with the community by supporting local artisans with purchases of coffee and woven baskets. Finally, enjoy a private transfer back to Moshi at 4:00 AM, yielding a 5:00 PM arrival—clutching memories of Materuni’s waterfall, Chaga's coffee, and cultural splendour, all while taking advantage of a romantic budget day trip full of love, discovery, and rich traditions.
